1. Introduction#
Retirement Planner is a macOS application that helps you model, visualise, and optimise retirement income across every major Canadian income source — CPP, OAS, GIS, RRSP, TFSA, pensions, investments, real estate, and business income. You enter your financial picture once, and the app instantly projects your annual income, after-tax cash flow, and net worth from today through the end of your retirement horizon. Switching between scenarios takes seconds, so you can answer questions like “what happens if I take CPP at 60 versus 70?” or “how long does my RRSP last if markets underperform?” without a spreadsheet in sight.
The app is designed for two audiences. Individuals planning their own retirement get a clear, interactive picture of where their money will come from, how much tax they will owe, and whether their savings will last. Financial advisors get a professional tool for building and presenting multiple strategies per client, running side-by-side comparisons, and generating polished PDF reports to share in client meetings. An Advisor subscription removes all limits on the number of clients and strategies, while a Pro subscription gives individuals access to advanced features such as household income optimisation and AI-assisted planning.
At its core, Retirement Planner is built around the Canadian tax and benefit system. Federal and provincial income tax, the age and pension income credits, OAS clawback, GIS means-testing, and CPP enhancement rules are all modelled using the current year’s published parameters — and updated automatically in the background as those parameters change. This means projections reflect your real after-tax income in Canada, not a generic estimate that ignores the details that matter most.

Important — Not Financial or Tax Advice. Retirement Planner is a modelling and planning tool. All projections, estimates, and calculations it produces are for illustrative purposes only and do not constitute financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Always consult a qualified financial advisor, tax professional, or legal counsel before making retirement or investment decisions. See Legal Notices for full details.
